Dr. Joseph is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist with specialized expertise in Cataract and Glaucoma surgery, Vitreoretinal diseases, Uveitis, Diabetic eye disease and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).
He completed his undergraduation from Justice K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore followed by a Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) from Christian Medical College, Vellore. He subsequently earned his DNB (Ophthalmology) and completed the prestigious FVRS (Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Services), a long-term fellowship in the medical and surgical management of retinal and vitreous diseases, from Aravind Eye Hospital and Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology. He also holds the internationally recognized MRCS (Ophthalmology) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK.
Dr. Joseph previously served as a Consultant Medical Officer in the Department of Retina & Vitreous Services at Aravind Eye Hospital & Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, where he managed complex retinal disorders and served as a Surgical Instructor for postgraduate residents and subspecialty fellows. He provided hands-on training in Cataract surgery, Phacoemulsification, Retinal diagnostics, Laser procedures, Intravitreal injections, Vitreoretinal surgery, Scleral buckling, and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Laser management, guiding trainees toward clinical and surgical competence and enabling them to become independent surgeons. Prior to this, he worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Surgeon at St. Joseph Eye & ENT Hospital.
He also serves as a Visiting Cataract and Topical Phaco Surgeon at Jiwan Jyothi Christian Hospital, affiliated with Emmanuel Hospital Association, New Delhi.
Dr. Joseph has a keen interest in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), actively involved in screening and medical and laser management of at-risk premature infants. He also has a special interest in Uveitis and ocular inflammatory disorders, managed through a multidisciplinary approach in collaboration with rheumatologists and pulmonologists, including immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive therapies when indicated.
