Overview

DNB (Diplomate of National Board) is the degree awarded to modern medicine doctors by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on successful completion of prescribed training and examination. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) was set up by Government of India in 1975 as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The main objective of NBE was to conduct post graduate and post-doctoral courses of high and uniform national standards in various medical and allied specialities and super specialities. Selection for DNB is from merit rank list, prepared based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

NBE gives accreditation to hospitals fulfilling stringent requirements of infrastructure, department facilities, qualification and experience of consultants after detailed inspection by assessors appointed by NBE. DNB can also be conducted in Medical Colleges recognized by Medical Council of India.

Caritas DNB Program

The Caritas DNB Program, established at Caritas Hospital, has been a beacon of excellence in medical education since its inception. Accredited and launched in January 2018, this program has been instrumental in shaping the future of medical professionals.

Initially, the program offered DNB courses in the Departments of General Surgery and Radiotherapy, with 2 seats available for each session. In January 2020, the program expanded its horizons by obtaining accreditation to offer DNB in General Medicine, providing 2 more coveted seats.

In June 2020, a significant milestone was achieved when Caritas secured accreditation to commence DNB in Anaesthesia, with a provision of 2 primary seats and 1 post-diploma seat. This expansion reflects the institution's commitment to providing a comprehensive and diverse medical education.

Caritas Hospital goes the extra mile to ensure that candidates in the program have a conducive learning environment. Convenient accommodation is offered on the campus, ensuring that students can focus on their studies without the burden of housing concerns. Moreover, selected candidates are granted a stipend at par with what is provided to MD/MS candidates in Government Medical Colleges in Kerala, underlining Caritas Hospital's dedication to nurturing the next generation of medical professionals.
