Program Overview

The Basic Bronchoscopy Certification Course aims to equip pulmonologists and intensivists with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform bronchoscopy procedures safely and effectively. This 1-2 month program emphasizes both theoretical foundations and practical training. This course serves as a foundation course for those interested in pursuing advanced interventional pulmonology fellowship programs.

• Provide comprehensive training in bronchoscopy under conscious sedation
• Tailor the program to individual needs based on initial assessment

Course Structure

• 4-8week course, can be completed in a single stretch or divided into separate stints (dependent on candidates schedule and needs )
• Flexible timing for working professionals
• Structured program:
• Mannequin training
• Bronchoscopy under general anesthesia (GA)
• Bronchoscopy under sedation and local anesthesia
• ICU bronchoscopy

Competencies Acquired

• Understanding the anatomy of tracheobronchial tree
• Perform basic inspection bronchoscopy and associated procedures
• To perform Bronchoalveolar lavage and to remove secretions
• Perform ICU bronchoscopies
• To perform Endobronchial biopsies (if skilled and confident enough)
• Clean and maintain bronchoscopes

Additional Opportunities

Observe and assist in advanced interventional procedures (optional)

Foundation for Advanced Training

This course serves as a foundation for those interested in pursuing advanced interventional pulmonology fellowship programs

Eligibility

• MD/DNB/DTCD in Respiartory medicine
• DrNB critical care medicine / IDCCM
• MD/DNB in Emergency medicine
