Caritas Hospital is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed the first robotic hip replacement surgery in Madhya Kerala : Mathew Zacharias, a 56-year-old native of Kottayam. The surgery was performed under the guidance of Dr. Anand Kumaroth S, Senior Consultant, Robotic Joint Replacement & Advanced Arthroscopy Surgeon, in the department of Orthopedics at Caritas Hospital. While several knee replacement surgeries have been performed at Caritas Hospital, this is the first time a total hip replacement surgery has been performed using robotics.

In traditional hip replacement surgery, both the patient and the surgeon are concerned about the possibility of the replaced hip slipping and the fluctuation of both legs after the surgery. However, Dr. who led the surgery is happy to be able to complete the surgery by solving both these concerns in hip replacement with the help of robotic technology.
