Embracing the spirit of Onam by spreading its joy and goodness to those around us, Caritas Hospital organised “Onnichoru Onam”, bringing together residents of old-age homes and families affected by the floods. Going beyond the festivities, the gathering became a heartwarming occasion of sharing, compassion and mutual care.

Around 200 senior citizens from St. Joseph Asylum, Kaipuzha; Navajeevan Trust, Arpookara; BTM (Bishop Thomas Tharayil Memorial Old Age Home); Sanjos, Ettumanoor; Abhayabhavan, Kottayam; and Angel Garden, Neendoor, joined the celebrations as special guests. The Caritas family warmly welcomed them, shared a traditional Onam feast together and spent meaningful moments exchanging stories and memories.

As part of the initiative, Onam kits containing essential supplies were also distributed as a gesture of care to flood-affected families in areas including Vaikom, Malarikkal, Puthuppally and Ezhumanthuruthu.

Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director & Chief Executive Officer, Caritas Hospital, said that Onam becomes truly complete when no one is left behind and everyone stands together. He added that such gatherings inspire us to support and stand by one another, especially during difficult times.

The distribution of Onam kits and the Onam celebration were inaugurated by Hon. Mons Joseph, Minister for Water Resources and Housing, who appreciated the commendable social initiatives undertaken by Caritas Hospital. Hon. K. Binimon, MLA (Vaikom) and Sri. Nattakam Suresh, MLA (Ettumanoor) also participated in the celebrations.

The programme was led by Rev. Fr. Saiju Puthenparambil, Assistant Director (Media & Relations); Rev. Fr. Joice Nandikunnel, Joint Director (Operations); Rev. Fr. Mathew Kannalayil, Director (Pastoral Care), Dr. Bobbie N. Abraham, Medical Director; Dr. Ajith Venugopal, COO & Group Head (EM & TC); Rev. Sister Shiji Jose, Chief Nursing Officer; along with other Joint Directors, department heads and staff members of Caritas Hospital.
