Caritas Hospital and MVD Join Forces for Life-Saving Emergency Training Program

Caritas Hospital, in collaboration with the Kerala Motor Vehicle Department (MVD), organized the "Caritas Emergency Life Support Training Program" under the "Safe Zone 2024-2025" initiative. The inauguration, held on November 13, 2024, at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Caritas Hospital, Kottayam, was graced by Shri V. N. Vasavan, Minister for Ports, Cooperation, and Devaswoms, Government of Kerala, who emphasized the program's role in enhancing road safety across the state.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director of Caritas, highlighted the hospital’s commitment to public welfare, stating, “Our mission goes beyond treatment; it’s about preparing the community to respond effectively to unforeseen incidents.” The program features modules on CPR, trauma care, and life-saving interventions, aiming to build a network of trained responders ready to provide immediate assistance during emergencies. Dr. Vivek, Senior Consultant in Emergency Medicine, and K. Ajith Kumar, RTO Kottayam, were among the key figures who discussed the importance of strengthening local capacity for handling road accidents.

The initiative is part of Caritas Hospital’s ongoing dedication to community health and safety, making Kerala’s roads safer by empowering first responders. The event was also attended by Rev. Fr. Stephen Thevarparambil, Joint Director of Services, and Motor Vehicle Inspectors B. Ashok Kumar and Sreeshan.
