Departments

Caritas Cancer Institute has expanded into six sub-departments namely Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Psycho-Oncology, Pain and Palliative Care, and Community Oncology. The Surgical Oncology Department was the first department related to cancer treatment to be started at Cantas Hospital 25 years ago. More than 25000 patients have sought treatment in this department and more than 18000 cancer surgeries, both minor and major, have been successfully performed so far Caritas Cancer Institute is the oldest institution in Kerala for the treatment of cancer in children and adults The Medical Oncology Department is equipped to handle all types of oncological emergencies with the support of a dedicated team of highly experienced doctors and trained nurses The Day Care Chemo wing initially started with 20 beds but has now been expanded to 35 beds, including three dedicated chemotherapy suites. It is also the first centre in Central Kerala to start Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation. Palliative Care

Palliative care activities, which began in 2004, are another specialty of Caritas Cancer Institute.
