Marking a new chapter in palliative care and health awareness, the palliative care unit strengthening programme, Forane-level mammogram screening programme inauguration, and awareness seminar were successfully conducted under the theme ‘Care with Greater Strength’. The programme was jointly organised by Caritas Hospital, the Kottayam Archdiocese Health Commission, Edackat Knanaya Catholic Forane, KCC, and KCWA. The event was held at Lourdes Matha Knanaya Catholic Church, Neerikkad.

The programme was inaugurated by His Excellency Mar Mathew Moolakkatt, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Kottayam Archdiocese and Patron of the Caritas Hospital Trust. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the need to ensure stronger support and care for patients and marginalised sections of society.

The distinguished presence of Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director and CEO of Caritas Hospital, and Rev. Fr. Simon Pullattu, Parish Priest of St. George Knanaya Catholic Forane Church, Edackat, Fr. Jose Kuruppantharayil, Vicar Lourde Matha of Lourdes, Knanaya Catholic Church, Neericad added significance to the occasion.

The awareness seminar that followed was led by prominent medical experts. Dr. Boben Thomas, Senior Consultant in Medical Oncology at Caritas Hospital, and Dr. Krishnapriya V., Senior Specialist in Palliative Medicine, presented sessions on relevant topics and addressed the queries of the participants. The programme, attended by representatives of various organisations and members of the public, marked a significant step forward in the fields of health awareness and palliative care.
